Care

At Planterie, we give every plant a healthy start by potting it in the right soil mix. So your plant comes healthy. If you get just a few basics right, it will thrive.

Where to keep it?

Gasteraloe is a succulent—it likes brighter light than most indoor plants, but harsh sun can still stress it in Delhi summers.

  • Best spot: Window Light (bright near a window; light filtered via glass/curtain).
  • It can also take Direct Sunlight (especially morning sun on a balcony).
  • Avoid strong afternoon sun in peak summer, and avoid Away from Window Light (it may stretch and lose its compact shape).

How much watering?

The #1 way Gasteraloe dies is staying wet for too long. It prefers a “soak, then dry” rhythm.

  • Touch the soil and push your finger 1–2 inches deep (a bit deeper than most houseplants).
  • If it feels even slightly moist, don’t water.
  • If it feels dry, water thoroughly until water drains from the bottom.
  • In summers: usually once every 10–14 days
  • In winters: usually once every 3–4 weeks
  • Monsoon tip (Delhi): if it’s outdoors, keep it under shade and water only when the soil is fully dry.

Other care tips

  • Don’t mist—succulents prefer dry leaves.
  • If leaves start looking soft/mushy, reduce watering. If they look slightly wrinkled, it’s usually thirsty.
