Description

The Rabbitfoot Fern brings delicate, feathery fronds and unique fuzzy rhizomes to your space. Housed in a charming cat face planter, this whimsical plant adds playful elegance to any desk, shelf, or windowsill while requiring minimal care

Care

At Planterie, we give every plant a healthy start by potting it in the right soil mix. So your plant comes healthy. If you get just a few basics right, it will thrive.

Where to keep it?

Rabbit’s foot fern likes bright shade + steady humidity. Direct sun dries it quickly.

  • Best spot: Window Light (bright near a window, light filtered via glass/curtain).
  • It can work in Away from Window Light if the room is still bright, but keep it away from AC drafts.
  • Avoid Direct Sunlight.

How much watering?

The most common issue is letting the soil dry out fully—ferns don’t bounce back well from repeated drying. The other issue is soggy soil. Aim for evenly moist.

  • Mist every 2 days (with a spray bottle). If there's a humidifier around, Rabbitfoot will love it.
  • Touch the soil and push your finger 1 inch deep.
  • If it feels slightly moist, don’t water yet.
  • If it feels dry, water thoroughly until water drains from the bottom.
  • In summers: usually 2 times a week
  • In winters: usually once a week (Always follow the finger-test over the calendar.)

Other care tips

  • Those “furry feet” (rhizomes) like to sit on top of the soil—don’t bury them deep.
  • If fronds turn crisp, it’s often dry air—keep it away from hot wind/AC and mist lightly or keep near other plants.
